DAY 27—“Love feels no loads.” |
It is an empty thing to pretend that we love God while we live in opposition to His will. Our love to God is why we love His children, and our keeping His commandments is the proof that we do indeed love Him. To love him with all our heart, and to love our neighbor as ourselves, are not grievous. They are not burdensome matters, for no man is burdened with the duties which his own love imposes on him. An old proverb explains the meaning of the John’s words, “Love feels no loads.”
I John 5:1-4—Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth Him that begat loveth Him also that is begotten of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep His commandments. For this is the Love of God, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
NIrV—How do we know that we love God’s children? We know it when we love God and obey His commands. Here is what it means to love God. It means that we obey His commands. And His commands are not hard to obey. That’s because everyone who is a child of God has won the battle over the world. Our faith has won the battle for us.
DEAR FATHER, because I love You I want to obey You. I am finding that whatever You design for me to do has unspeakable joy in it because I am doing it for the One I love. Oh, I do love You! More and more everyday! Please let this love I am feeling for you spread to these others in my family. Let us become a family deeply in love with You.
